Most people who ask about a smile makeover aren't starting from scratch. They have a list. A dark tooth that no whitening has touched, a worn edge, a gum line that runs uneven, a bite that has shifted over twenty years. A smile makeover at Lake Park Dental in Milwaukee combines whitening, bonding, veneers, crowns, or gum contouring into one plan designed around your face and the way your teeth actually meet, and you see that design before treatment starts. Here's what usually brings people in.

WHEN YOU NEED A SMILE MAKEOVER

The list usually builds slowly. One tooth chipped years ago and got bonded, and the bonding has since gone a different color than the enamel around it. The front teeth have worn shorter, so more of the lower teeth show when you talk. An old crown sits darker at the gum line. Whitening helped some teeth and not others. None of it is an emergency, and none of it hurts. Most people show up with photos on their phone, sometimes of their own smile from ten years earlier.

There's no medical clock on cosmetic work. But a few of the things on that list are structural rather than cosmetic, and those do change over time. Worn front teeth keep wearing. A tooth that's cracked keeps cracking. Gum recession doesn't grow back on its own. Doing the planning early means we can separate what's urgent from what's optional and sequence the work in an order that makes sense, sometimes over a year or two. Waiting doesn't ruin anything. It occasionally turns a bonding case into a crown case.

OUR SMILE MAKEOVER PROCESS

The first visit is a full look, not a sales pitch. We examine the teeth, the gums, and how your jaw moves, take digital scans and X-rays, and photograph and video you talking and smiling. The video matters because a smile moves, and a still photo hides how much tooth shows when you speak. From there we design the result on screen and walk you through it. You tell us what to change, and we change it. In many cases you can wear a trial version for a few days before anything permanent happens.

Once you approve the design, we sequence treatment. Whitening usually comes first, since porcelain and composite are matched to the shade of the teeth around them and won't lighten later. Gum work comes before veneers. Bite corrections come before restorations. Depending on the case, the whole thing runs anywhere from a few weeks to several months. We check in during healing and adjust as we go.

UNDERSTANDING THE COST OF A SMILE MAKEOVER

No two smile makeovers cost the same, because no two lists are the same. Some plans are whitening plus bonding on three teeth. Others involve veneers, gum contouring, and rebuilding a worn bite. We evaluate first, then put every fee in writing before treatment begins, and that number is what you pay. Lake Park Dental is a fee-for-service practice in Milwaukee, and we provide detailed receipts you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement on anything that qualifies as restorative. Cherry and CareCredit are available if you'd rather spread payments out. Many people also phase the work over time.

Why Choose Us

A smile makeover is equal parts dentistry and craftsmanship. Get the dentistry wrong and the restorations chip, loosen, or wear the opposing teeth. Get the craftsmanship wrong and they look fake. Dr. Beau Schneiss holds a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and an Associate Fellowship in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, a combination held by about 6% of dentists in the United States. Our porcelain is handmade by a master ceramist rather than milled in bulk. And every plan starts with how your bite works, because cosmetic work that fights the bite doesn't last.

Frequently Asked Questions about SMile Makeover - FAQs

What's actually included in a smile makeover?

1

Whatever your case needs, which is why the plan is built after the exam rather than before. Common pieces are whitening, composite bonding, porcelain veneers, crowns, gum contouring, enamel shaping, and Invisalign. Some people need three of those. Some need one.

How long does the whole thing take?

2

Anywhere from a few weeks to several months, depending on what's involved. Whitening and bonding move fast. Veneers, gum healing, and any orthodontic movement add time. We give you a sequence and rough timeline at the planning visit so you know what you're committing to.

How long do the results last?

3

Porcelain veneers and crowns commonly last 10 to 20 years with good care. Composite bonding runs closer to 5 to 10. Whitening fades and gets touched up. Grinding at night is the biggest threat to any of it, so if you grind we'll plan for a night guard as part of the case.

Will insurance pay for any of it?

4

Sometimes, in part. Work done for a cracked, decayed, or failing tooth is often partly covered even when it also improves how the smile looks. Purely cosmetic work generally isn't. We give you a written estimate up front and detailed receipts you can submit yourself, and Cherry and CareCredit are available.
